Please make sure that your child is organized for each class. They should have stored any leftover supplies at home or with me. If you have a question about something, let me know.

Please make sure that you look at and SIGN your child’s planner every night.

Weekly Homework

  1.  Reading—20 minutes per night OR 100 minutes per week; daily LOG sheet filled in
  2.  Spelling—weekly words and test
  3.  Vocabulary—weekly words and test
  4.  Writing—varies depending on how much is accomplished in class
  5.  Projects—as assigned to support reading and writing
  6.  Independent Reading Requirement—2 books read this six weeks, 2 book reports completed on those books, and 2 LOG sheets turned in with parent signature on those books (Due date: Sept. 26!)

Classroom Procedures

  1.  Students will enter classroom and take their assigned seat quietly.
  2.  Students will be counted TARDY if they are not in their seat when the tardy bell rings.
  3.  Students much have their planner, library book, supplies and homework every day for class.
  4.  Students will read the board and write their HOMEWORK assignments in their planner every day.
  5.  Students will work quietly in their seats on their daily warm-ups.
  6.  Students will use a BLACK or BLUE ink pen for all assignments. No pencils allowed!
  7.  Students will use a RED pen for checking assignments and making corrections.
  8.  Students will raise their hand when they want to be recognized or to get out of their seat for any reason.
  9.  Students will complete all assignments as instructed by the teacher.
  10. Students will exit the classroom orderly and quietly when they are dismissed by the teacher.
  11. Students will need to check with the teacher for any missed work when returning after an absence.
  12. Students will get their planner signed every day.

Grading Policy

Grades will be calculated in the following ways:

        Tests and Projects: 60%

        Class work:                      20%

        Homework:                      20%

Late Work Policy

One day late is 70% of grade earned.

Absent Work: Students are allowed to make up work one day per absence.

 

Behavior Plan

NOT FOLLOWING “Classroom Rules or Procedures” = LUNCH DETENTION

3 LUNCH DETENTIONS                                            = AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION

3 AFTER SCHOOL DETENTIONS                              = OFFICE REFERRAL

OFFICE REFERRALS will be handled by the principal and/or assistant principal.

All of the above will be logged in the student planner and parents will be notified via a note, letter, e-mail, or phone call.
